Education & Community

PTA improves the educational experience of our children.

The Southwest Elementary PTA  raises funds through memberships and fundraisers. Where does that money go?

PTA dollars  support education and build community through:

  • Educational and Technology Enhancements - purchasing learning software, laptops, and tablets for classroom use and new books and materials for the Media Center.
  • Exciting programs and events for families and students
  • Supporting teachers and staff with Staff Appreciation activities
  • Improving the school environment with sensory paths, play equipment, and interactive wall murals.

Spending varies each year based on the school community's needs. 97% of all dollars go towards these efforts. Three percent covers overhead expenses. Every effort is made to insure that PTA dollars are maximized for the benefit of students, families and teachers and staff.

PTA Your way

Children are our focus.

Being a PTA member means you are part of a powerful association and action plan focused on programs and initiatives to strengthen your child’s education and the family-school partnership.

However you PTA, it’s all an investment in your child. PTA to support your child’s teachers and curriculum. PTA to advocate on the issues impacting your child. Affect change at the local state and national levels. PTA to build a stronger, more diverse and inclusive school community.

There is no wrong way to PTA.

We invite everyone to participate, because we can do more together than apart. Please join SWES PTA.

Monthly Pta Meetings

We hope to see you there!

Throughout the year, the PTA hosts general session meetings open to all where we actively seek community participation and engagement. It is a friendly environment to meet other parents and school staff.

The PTA Board also holds monthly business meeting on  the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM.  These meetings last approximately 45 minutes. Meetings are open to all PTA Members.

If you are not a PTA member, you may join at the PTA meeting and then decide. Remember, you must renew your membership each year. Thank you in advance!
