Our Color Fun Run is the largest fundraiser at Southwest Elementary. During the Fun Run, students ask for donations to support the school. The Fun Run provides a fun and engaging way for students to learn about social and emotional health in the weeks before the event day.
Corporate sponsors are welcome and encouraged for this event. If you know a corporation who might be interested, please email us at info@swespta.org.
SWES students look forward to the Scholastic Book Fair every year! Encouraging a love of reading is the goal, providing reading material for homes and classrooms. The money raised from the Book Fair is used to purchase materials for the Media Center. This is very important as the Media Center receives $0 from Guilford County.
A clean and pleasing environment helps the school community take pride in themselves and provides an enhanced environment for teaching and learning. SWES PTA hosts events throughout the year to improve our school environment and build community throughout the school. From Sensory Paths to Sidewalk Chalk Days and school grounds clean up events, the SWES community comes together!
Southwest Elementary is proud of the many different cultures at our school. We are always looking for opportunities to share our cultural diversity and teach our students about the world in which we live. The Diversity and Inclusion Committee plans fun, educational opportunities for students throughout the year.
The annual Small & Tall Ball is a school dance where all SW students can attend with an adult of their choice, such as a parent, grandparent, mentor, sibling, etc. The Ball provides an opportunity for students and their families to get all dressed up and dance the night away!
Students and families are invited for a fun meal with Friends and Family throughout the year at area restaurants. PTA receives a portion of the proceeds to pay for programs and events. Invite everyone you know to join us - just tell them to say they are supporting Southwest Elementary! Restaurant Partners this year are Chicken Salad Chick, Odeh's Mediterranean Kitchen and Your Pie.
The staff at Southwest Elementary school are a cornerstone of the school’s success. Our volunteers are also key to making a world of difference in our children's success. Programs are held throughout the year to recognize our Staff and Volunteers for their dedication and impact at SWES.
Students at Southwest benefit from a broad range of Technology and Educational Enhancement assistance provided by the PTA. This program has provided iPads, laptops, headphones, smart tv's for all classrooms, physical education equipment, art supplies, STEM supplies, books, and online educational tools for school use. In 2023-2024, we will continue helping to build 21st Century learning environments for SWES. children and staff.
